Meet the Owners
Megan MacLennan and Patrick Mislan have been coaching competitive cheerleading for over a decade. Pat and Meg met when they were stunt partners on the Queen’s University collegiate level 6 team. In 2008, they moved to Edmonton, Alberta to pursue graduate degrees and joined the coaching staff at Alberta Cheer Empire, where they coached their All-Girl and first-ever Co-ed Worlds teams together. After graduating with MSc and PhD degrees in biology, Pat & Meg moved back to Ontario and joined Air Force Mavericks in 2016 as Program Directors. Over 7 years, they grew the competitive program from 66 athletes to over 200 athletes, including founding their Worlds program. In their inaugural season in 2023, their Worlds team ranked 2nd in Canada and 6th overall in the IO5 division at the IASF World Championships.
Importantly, Meg & Pat are dedicated to building competitive success across all levels and age divisions. Among their recent accomplishments, their U16 Level 2 team ranked 9th overall at the Summit Championships and boasted the highest score at the Canadian Cheer National Championships, and in 2019, their Level 3 team earned the title of Canadian Finals Champions.
Meg & Pat are highly invested coaches and their ambition has always been to own a gym that is a home for young athletes and the next generation of leaders where they can grow and feel supported. They are steadfastly devoted to their core values and passionate about infusing life lessons into cheerleading training.
Meg & Pat are unique in the cheer industry in that they offer the “full package” to their competitive teams. They do in-house team choreography and custom music, and are committed to providing resources, training and support to their coaching staff to ensure that Alpha Cheer is a leader in the cheerleading industry. As life-long learners who value continued education and professional development, they are dedicated to staying on top of changes to score systems, rules and judging to ensure that their teams are set up for competitive success in an ever-evolving industry. Meg & Pat are thrilled to launch their new gym - Alpha Cheer & Tumbling - and can’t wait to start this next chapter in their careers as coaches and mentors.
