We are heartbroken to share the devastating news of John (JP, or Jay) Pollard's passing. His loss has come as a profound shock, and our hearts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Jay was known for his free spirit, genuine kindness, and the quiet, steady way he showed up for others. He carried a deep sense of adventure and an even deeper capacity for love. Nothing was ever too much trouble — Jay would go to the ends of the earth for the people he cared about, and he truly lived that way.

Jay’s family is deeply rooted in our Alpha Cheer community. His daughter, Ray, is one of our athletes on Valkyrie, and his wife, Ruth, is an active and dedicated member of the Alpha Cheer and Tumbling Athlete Association (ACTAA). They are not just connected to our organization — they are part of the heart of it. In this moment of profound loss, it is especially important that we surround them with compassion, strength, and unwavering support.

The family will not be holding a funeral at this time, but plans are underway for a meaningful celebration of life to honour Jay’s spirit. Details will be shared when the time is right.

Ray and Ruth are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received since the unexpected news. As a community we'd like to show our support by collecting monetary contributions that can be put toward gifts for the family to support them through this difficult time, or presented directly to the family for expenses as they see fit - Christie Colthart and Melissa Willis from the ACTAA will be facilitating this as close friends of the Pollard family and representatives of the Alpha Community.
